Family Business

“In 1995, Doug and I started selling Christmas trees in Monterey, California. Our family's favorite holiday has always been Christmas and one year during our traditional Christmas tree outing my husband noticed the steep price on our beloved Christmas tree. Doug was always an ambitious entrepreneur and thought this could be a wonderful business opportunity. We started with just one Christmas tree lot, which quickly turned into three lots. During this time we also started the Kris Kringle Foundation, where our sole purpose was to help families in need at Christmas time. This charity allowed us to partner with local law enforcement to donate thousands of trees and toys to less fortunate families over the years.

One evening I approached my husband and said, "Wouldn't it be a wonderful idea to own a farm?" Shockingly, my husband agreed and the search began. For over five years we searched and searched. Finally in 2002, we stumbled upon the perfect location in Silverton, Oregon. We purchased over 53 acres from an already existing farm and then the real fun began! My two sons, Doug Jr. and Danny loved their new outdoor wonderland and quickly became a vital part of our family business. This farm allowed us to expand our business into wholesaling and we began selling our trees all over the Monterey Peninsula. Tragedy stuck our family in 2012 when Doug was diagnosed with brain cancer. Sadly, Doug passed away in 2013, but the family business continues to this day. All three lots are ran by family members and Doug's legacy continues.”
